Industry Academia Interaction
A long-term and sustainable collaboration with continuous engagement is going on between many leading core Industries and the E&I Department. This helps to ensure industrial relevance in academic delivery and research.
Hence, E&I Department initiated the Industry Academia interaction by hosting KCT Industry Academia Meets – Instrumentation during 2016 and 2017. The main objectives are
- To leverage and collect experiences and lessons from successful collaboration between Industry and Academia.
- To recast the structure of the current syllabi which matches the expectations of new trends.
- To develop a choice of opportunity to be interned in the reputed companies.
- To exchange information among renowned professional from product and application industries, academicians and administrators in the area of Electronics, Instrumentation, Control and Automation.

Partial delivery of the courses by Industry
One Credit Courses
As per the institutional regulation, students can also opt for one credit industry oriented courses for a minimum of 15 hours duration, which will be offered by experts from industry on specialized topics apart from the prescribed courses of study of the programme. Students can complete such one credit courses during the semesters 5 to 7 as and when these courses are offered by any of the departments. There is no limit on the number of one credit courses a student can register and successfully complete during the above period.
Steps involved in designing and assessment of one credit courses:
Step1: The HOD and industry expert shall decide name and syllabi of the one credit course.
Step2: The concerned HOD collects the name list of the students those are interested in attending the above course. Each batch consists of 10 to 30 students.
Step3: The course shall be taught by industry experts as a course teacher.
Step4: The course teacher shall give assignments and conduct internal test 1&2 and viva voce.
Step5: The Course end examination shall be conducted and the evaluation will be done by the same industry expert.

- U13EIP501 Microprocessor and Microcontroller Laboratory
The course was handled by Ms. Kavitha, M/s. STEPS Knowledge Services Pvt. Ltd., Coimbatore (Technical Partners of M/s. Texas Instruments)
In addition, many guest speakers were invited from various industrial sectors to deliver lectures and conduct workshops. This methodology provides the students with right blend of theoretical and contemporary practices in the industry.
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Industries
Objectives of MoU are
- To train the students in the field of Distributed Control Systems and Programmable Logic Controllers (Industrial Automation)
- To provide an insight in the latest developments / requirements of the industries
- To provide an exposure to the students for getting a smooth transition from academic to work career
- To arrange Joint Seminars from field personalities and to share their knowledge with students
- To provide guest lecture(s), internship for the students on mutually agreeable terms and conditions with placement assistance
