ELECTRONICS & INSTRUMENTATION ENGINEERING
International Society of Automation (ISA) is a leading, global, non-profit organization with more than 40,000 members worldwide. ISA develops standards, certifies industry professionals, provides education and training, publishes books and technical articles, and hosts conferences and exhibitions for automation professionals. ISA’s 160 geographical sections connect members with technology, expert advice, and world-class technical programming.
ISA Student Sections help to identify the potential leadership among the students as well as faculty adviser and helps in networking of people and professional in the Automation area. ISA provides platform in connecting the students with professionals, Industry related courses, etc.
KCT Student Section was started in 2011 under South India Chapter and later got attached to Bangalore Chapter in the year 2017. Student Section of ISA as a part of Bangalore Chapter was inaugurated in the Department of E&I during the academic year 2017. The activities of ISA include workshops, conferences and guest lecturers for the benefit of the student community of all disciplines.
Mr. Ramachandra Kerur, President of Bangalore Section gave a short talk by sharing his professional expertise with the students, the need for continued passion in linking with Automation Industries. Mr. Renukaprasad ISA Member, Bangalore section gave a lecture on “Make a Difference” and it was a very thought-provoking lecture which made impact on the students. The session was interactive and lively.

KCT – Electronics and Instrumentation department is connected with ISA and have a ‘student charter’ from ISA from 2010. Hitherto attached to ISA-South India Section, KCT has now opted to come under ISAB umbrella from 2017 . This visit was to formalize the renewed formation of the student section and help the college rejuvenate the activities of the student section Mr. U. Rajshekhar, DGM-technical at JECL, Bangalore(Past President , ISA Bangalore Section), and Mr. S.R. Venkatapathy, Founder & Partner at Pranav 3V , Bangalore( founding member of ISA Bangalore Section, Past President and Trust Chairman of Bangalore ISA Section), visited the college on October 10,2018.
Mr. U. Rajshekhar briefed the audience on ISA activities and highlighted benefits that students may want to derive as being members of the professional body. The faculty are quite familiar with benefits that accrue in associating themselves with professional bodies such as ISA. Mr. S.R. Venkatapathy provided them with a presentation on “Trends in Manufacturing Automation” with emphasis on how the students could choose to orient their thought processes to leverage the emerging technologies in Manufacturing. Automation challenges and opportunities that present themselves with the emerging technologies was sought to be conveyed through the example of the oil and gas industry. We believe from the feedback received that this was well received.
